A Farewell Update on Maine’s Response to the Opioid Epidemic with a Focus on Washington County

with Gordon Smith

Free

As Gordon Smith, Director of Opioid Response for the State of Maine, prepares to leave his position, he will update us on the progress the administration has made since 2018 in tackling the opioid crisis here in Maine. He will be comparing the data gathered since 2018 and going through 2026 to provide details on what factors have contributed the most to a decline in the number of deaths. This will be the third and final presentation here at Sunrise Senior College and he will provide valuable information on what programs and methodologies have been implemented and how successful they have been in reducing overdoses and addiction here in Washington County as well the other counties in the state. If you should know of someone in need, he will give us information on what resources are available and how to get in touch with them. Sunrise Senior College is pleased to once again have Director Smith come give this open to the public presentation on an issue that has affected many families here in this County and in Maine.

Presenter: Gordon Smith, JD. is a Health Care Lawyer and has been the Director of Opioid Response for the state of Maine since February of 2019. He also has strong family ties to Wahington County and tries to come back up here as often as he can.
