Keeping Active and Avoiding Joint Problems
with Dr. Zafar Ahmad

As Sunrise Senior College looks to continue to bring presentations for our seniors on maintaining a healthy lifestyle as we age, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Zafar Ahmad. He is an orthopedic surgeon practicing at Down East Community Hospital. In this in person only 2-session presentation, he will emphasize the importance of regular physical activity as we age and will provides tips and useful information on how to incorporate them into daily routines. Dr. Ahmad became an orthopedic surgeon because he wanted to make a difference in patient’s lives. He finds positively impacting his patients’ quality of life very fulfilling and enjoys working closely with primary care providers to ensure his patients feel informed, empowered, and supported.
While participants will learn about the immediate benefits of being active, the course also includes discussions on maintaining a healthy diet. Additionally, Dr. Ahmad will talk about how to avoid joint problems through many different topics.
Presenter: Dr. Zafar Ahmad received his Medical Degree from St. George’s University of London, UK and specializes in procedures such as: Partial knee replacement, as well as soft tissue work; Total knee replacement; Revision knee replacement; Primary hip arthroplasty; Hip resurfacing; Hip revision surgery; Lower limb trauma and Wrist and forearm fractures.
Class Information: This is an in person only class - held in-person in UM@M’s room SCI 102. Dr. Ahmad will be presenting all sessions in person.

Sunrise Senior College (SSC) is a membership-based organization. Our SSC members receive special benefits as current members when they register for this course.
