Life - A Book in the Making (Tales and Stories from the Allagash Wilderness)
with Tim & Susan Caverly
Free
Sunrise Senior College is pleased to welcome Maine’s own ALLAGASH TALES storyteller Tim Caverly and wife Susan to the University of Maine at Machias.
They are Alumnus of UMM, with Tim graduating in 1973 and Susan in 1974. These successful authors and presenters will share their life experiences from which they have created (14) published works that detail Maine life from Cornville to the Allagash.
In this uplifting PowerPoint presentation created especially for the Sunrise Senior College, they will discuss the development of and the background behind the stories found in the Allagash Tales series. This will be supported by pictures of the Allagash region as they recount interesting anecdotes and the real-life adventures that have served as the basis for these books.
Through their ‘New England Reads’ program, Tim and Susan are committed to promoting and encouraging reading and literacy in schools while promoting fun in learning about Maine’s natural world. They have presented over 368 programs to over 12,500 students from Maine to Vermont and New Hampshire, exciting young minds while promoting these wonderful stories. You will find that their stories appeal not just to children but to readers of any age who are young at heart and want to learn more about the wonders of Maine’s woods. Tim’s current book is Conversations II - Ranger Tales from Baxter.
